Omija 오미자

Omija, also known as Schisandra berry or five-flavor fruit, refers to the dried berries of the Schisandra chinensis plant. In Korean, "omija" (오미자) literally translates to "five flavors," reflecting the berry's unique taste profile. These berries offer a complex combination of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and pungent tastes. Omija is commonly used to make omija-cha, a traditional Korean tea, and can also be used in many ways, such as cold brew, hot brewing like regular fruit or herbal teas, or simmering in boiling water and then add syrup or honey (or whatever sweetners of your choice).
